Elaborate and Intricate Large Throne Chair, For the Emperor's use when visiting high officials. With high sides and back in cherrywood (dark) and contrasted by elm, light used throughout. The back and sides interior decor of a large central jade peach on stand surrounded with bat and fruit, castanet and dragon jui-I and ink stone with seals on hatched ground. Frame of lighter elm wood, shallow carved with embossed connecting trellis and dragons. Interior sides embossed with three jades, newt plaque on stand, jui-I and vase on one, the other, jade sculpture pi and vase on stand, shaped back and sides in steps with stained wood as on trims throughout chair. External sides only carved elm with embossed urn, coins, pipes and harp. Back carved with dragons, clouds, longevity in the cherrywood. Plinth in scrolled light wood and flora with large dragon heads at corners clawed feet in dark wood.
