A rare Chinese Taoist zodiac altar vase, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century, of hexagonal section baluster form, decorated with high relief applique figures, each carrying an animal representing the Chinese zodiac signs. The whole covered in a deep brown/black glaze. Six character impressed Xuande mark on the base. 35.5 cm high, 17 cm diameter.
