A very rare set of Chinese 'Banjo Scales', with raised dots forming Chinese characters representing a sort of Manufacturers mark, the Chinese brought scales with them which had usually been previously used to weigh spices, herbs and/or opium, and were mostly at least decades old when brought here in the mid 19th century. 34 cm long

A very hard to come by cast iron Dolly pot, from the Madam berry line of goldfields/leases in Creswick. Quartz was put into the pot and stampers used to smash up the ore into dust, then the powder was more easily separated. This one has seen a lot of use. 35 cm high, 39 cm diameter

A gold miner's flat top mining cart, used in a horizontal shaft to move mining buckets along to the vertical shaft to be hoisted to the surface by a rope and windlass. 70 cm long, 45 cm wide, 28 cm high

A large Windlass, made from milled Oregon. Unusual as normally the Miners carried the metal work with them from Goldfield to Goldfield and used suitable native timbers to make the round 'beam' to fix their ropes to. This one came from the Stawell Goldfields, and the money spent making it indicates a 'serious show' (gold workings) and that the miners were working at greater than normal depths. 266 cm long

A very fine and well used Gold Dust Separator Pan. These pans were designed so that the wet gold and sands could be laid out on them and dried by applying a heat source underneath, then when cooled, the operator can hold the tray level and while gently shaking blow the lighter sands out of the specially fluted and elevated outlet, leaving the gold dust behind. These are now very rare. 29 cm long
