An Alofolo club, Malaita, Solomon Islands, late 19th century. Carved from a single piece of wood, this club features a flat rectangular blade enlivened by a raised fin on each side. Delicate incised detailing of geometric patterns at the blade. A long shaft that terminates at the double-flange pommel. Coloured with a black pigment. Length 105 cm, width 8 cm, depth 6 cm. A Damarou Sago pot, Aibom village, Papua New Guinea, Sago pots are made from rings of softened clay that are moulded together and then pulled upwards, creating the thin walls of these vessels. They are used for the storage of flour. This sago pot is of bulbous form with a wide flared neck. At the exterior are raised designs depicting a chicken's face. The pots are coloured with pigments of white, yellow, and black. This sago pot has a woven plant fibre brace for its transportation. Height 67 cm, depth 47 cm

Carved from a single piece of hardwood, this figure depicts a seated person with hands resting at the knees.
