Rare antique Chinese porcelain tea tray with upraised foliate rim, decorated with the 'Birthday' pattern on a rich Imperial yellow ground. The gilded characters within the roundels translate as 'Long life without end', and surround a central 'Shou' or long life medallion. No mark. Guangxu period. Some expected wear and signs of use. Note' These flat trays were rarely glazed on the underside, leaving them unable to be reign marked, unlike as occurred with tea pots, cups, plates etc from the service. See…

Three antique/vintage Chinese porcelain side plates of differing sizes, each beautifully decorated with central blue and green enamelled Imperial five clawed dragons, on a bright yellow ground; all within an elaborate 'Frog spawn' and leiwen ('thunder pattern' border. Stamped CHINA mark (obligatory on imports to America after 1891), underneath. Sizes: diameter 15, 19 & 25 cm. Note; Howards Chinese armorial porcelain, volume 1, page 665, illustrates two pieces with similar armorials, but misspelled motto (fac bene ne duettas), in the Metropolitan Museum, New York . Weight 159g. note: We understand from the vendor that in 1860-1890 a Royal Navy Officer and family member, Captain Tilly, came to the Pacific on the hallmarked sterling Cordelia as a sub left tenant. The family believes that Tilly visited china in the 1850s, and this Chinese silver belt was in the family collection
