An Australian stoneware ginger beer bottle by Thomas field, circa 1855, the brown salt glaze bottle impressed 'T. FIELD / POTTER / SYDNEY', 17 cm high. Thomas field was born in 1814 in Barnet, Middlesex. He learnt pottery from JA Gransby between 1838-41. He arrived in Sydney as a free settler in 1842 and established the pottery business T field & Co in April 1843, producing ginger beer and cordial bottles until his retirement in 1872
