A collection of early 20th century graphophones and phonographs are a highlight of Philips Auctions timed online Fine & Decorative Arts auction which ends from 12pm Monday August 8 at 47 Glenferrie Road, Malvern. At the same time the auction house is conducting a timed online Modern & Antique Jewellery sale with both high quality and affordable jewellery up for grabs.

The collection is from a single deceased estate and features items like a Model C Edison Standard phonograph complete with key and horn and its original oak domed top case (above).

Unusual is the circa 1925 English “Cameraphone” portable gramophone with soundbox and faux tortoiseshell round chamber amplifier (Lot 23 ) and the late 19th century fine cylinder table music box in an ebonised case and inlaid floral top (Lot 28 ).

There are several clocks in the auction including a late 19th century French Louis XV-style gilt bronze mantel clock with candelabra garniture (Lot 43 ) complete with ivorine Roman and Arabic numeral dial.

Among the silver on offer is a 1933 boat-shaped bowl with Birmingham maker A.E. Jones mark on the base (Lot 147 ).

A large Crown Devon Fieldings ginger jar and cover (Lot 195 ) is among the porcelain items, while artworks feature a painting entitled Man in the Bush, Squatter (lot 209) by John Lennox (1941-1996) among other offerings by Ray Crooke (1922-2015) Untitled (lot 212) and Sidney Nolan (1917-1992) Mrs Reardon at Glenrowan 1946 (lot 213).
