The auction, on Monday March 19 at Leonard Joel's South Yarra rooms features several Cartier pieces including a vintage floral spray brooch – also well cared for – and an emerald and diamond bracelet.
The Cartier bracelet was purchased in the 1950s from London fine jeweller Philip Antrobus, designers and manufacturers of Queen Elizabeth II’s engagement ring, and is accompanied by the company’s box.
The auction showcases a variety of jewellery from antique, cocktail and designer to modern – and encompasses many private collections.
One of the more unusual items is a one-off bespoke wristwatch and jewellery trunk, handcrafted by Louis Vuitton.
Styled in Damier graphite canvas with white metal hardware and with a catalogue estimate of $100,000-$140,000, the trunk includes 28 removable watch winder cases, 12 jewellery drawers, a mirror and removable watch travel case.
Custom made in 2016 and transported by Louis Vuitton direct to the client’s home, it is in excellent condition and was only used as a displayed item.
With a catalogue estimate of $90,000-$120,000, an art deco style pink diamond and sapphire cocktail bracelet should attract plenty of attention from those buyers looking for something of lasting value.
Other feature items include a pair of ruby and diamond earrings and a diamond, emerald and ruby cocktail ring.
Unusual is the antique gem set brooch in the shape of a hen and the sapphire and diamond bee brooch.
A sapphire and diamond cluster ring could be the perfect gift for that special someone with Mother’s Day only a couple of months away.
