An English Parian Bust Of Major-General Sir Henry Havelock Impressed E.W. Wyon. F., Havelock Modelled as a bearded gentleman in military dress, raised on a stepped socle, 38 cm high. Note: Sir Henry Havelock (1795 - 1857) was a member of the British armed forces who served with distinction in several of the major skirmishes in the British colonies of India during the early nineteenth century. He was particularly well known for his recapture of the city of Kanpur during the Indian rebellion of 1857. Following his death on 29th November 1857 he was posthumously awarded the rank of Major-General.
