A French faience tin glazed earthenware plate, 18th century, 22.5 cm diameter, Note: ' This particular subject was one of four much loved by the painters of La Rochelle. It is very freely painted in colours of the grand feu. It is unlikely that stencils were used as there are several variations of the same subject., For a similar example see Jeanne Giacomotti, French Faience, Oldbourne Press, London, pp. 189-190.
