An important Baroque gilt bronze boulle clock and pedestal, circa 1730, with maker's mark of de Lorme, Paris, to backplate. the eight day clock with enamel cartouches and Roman numerals upon a gilt dial bearing the 'Sun King' emblem, in a pagoda top case with premiere-partie brass marquetry on brown tortoiseshell veneer, with finely cast allegorical figures, dolphin and merman espagnolettes, the pedestal with similar rich Baroque adornments, height 244 cm (total) height 110 cm (clock only)
