A full collection of New Zealand World War II medals and other items pertaining to a New Zealand soldier who was a Prisoner of War in Germany in World War II. A group of five World War II medals: 1939-45 Star, African Star, War Service Medal, Defense Medal and War Medal 1939-45. All with ribbons but not inscribed. They have been unprofessionally mounted for wear. Together with a Stalag Metal Identification Tag zinc or metal plate (approx. 6 x 4 cm) which reads ' 'Stalag VIII B / No. 21326' twice; a coloured New Zealand Expeditionary Force Map of Cairo with notes on back; original 'Instructions for New Zealand P.O.W. sheet', map of '#1 Canadian Transit Camp (X POW) St. Anne's Barracks Brussels. Belgium'; photos of groups of soldiers with stamps on back from Auckland 1940, Stalag 344 and Stalag VIII B'. Four different Soldiers Pay Books; 'Prisoner of War Post' letters addressed to Pte. C. Hemi; an exercise book with century Hemy's name to inside front with poems, musings & anecdotes by various hands with dates from 1940-1943. Along with other miscellaneous photos, letterS, tickets etc pertaining to Private Christopher Hemy, 21508, originally of Whanganui. Stalag VIII-B Lamsdorf was a notorious German Army prisoner of war camp, later renumbered Stalag-344, located near the small town of Lamsdorf (now called Lambinowice) in Silesia
