Provenance: Purchased by the present owner from 'Joshua McClelland Print Room, 81 Collins Street, East, Melbourne, C.1, 63 - 5835, Oct.6, 1967', Note on the purchase receipt reads 'Watercolour, 'Geelong Hunt Club meeting at the Wallington Hotel, 1861.' (The licencee of the hotel, on the Bellarine Peninsular, is shown as W. Lawrence, according to the records he was there only between 1861 and 1863. The Geelong Advertiser, of June 5, 1861 refers to a watercolour by Mr. George Gregory of a Hunt meeting in the Bream Creek area, which may well be this one. This painting was formerly in the possession of Mr. James Wilson, founder of the well-known St. Albans turf and race-course at Ocean Grove.,
