A signed Satsuma vase. Meiji period, 1868-1912; with signature and shimazu family crest. In a subdued palette with gilded enrichments, two panels with women engaged in a tea ceremony beside a pavilion, the other with women holding fans, with panels and borders of stylised gilt clouds, flowers and shapes, lappets and chevrons, small lug handles to the collar; a bordered black cartouche signature underside. Height 18 cm
