A Russian Mother of God 'Joy to all Who Grieve' icon. Late 18th to 19th century, apparently Stroganov school. In tempera colours on a gesso prepared timber panel with ark depicting a full length mother of God flanked by palm leaves and suffering figures, angels to the rear, surmounted by a cartouche of the mother and child and Cyrillic script in church Slavonic.
