Description:
An 1839 rare 72 Calibre First Pattern Heavy Dragoon Pistol marked 'V.R' & a Crown on the plate of the firing mechanism, as well as 'Tower' and date, small crown with arrow denotes military proof at second half of the 19th century. Issue marks present on the left of the barrel, crown & 'V.R' stamped to timber on the left hand hilt. In fair condition, with slight pitting to the barrel. One hair-line crack near the breech of the barrel on the left hand side. A major crack is present at the end of the barrel in the timber beneath, on the right hand side. Another hair-line crack is present nect to the firing mechanism from the plate to the mid-barrel. Normal wear & tear for a gun of its age. L 38 cm, Barrel L 24 cm
