A Wolseley Pith Helmet The Wolseley helmet is made of a cork cover in a light khaki cloth with an adjustable inner sweatband to fit most size heads. This example is of World War II vintage and has been deliberately dirtied to better act as camouflage in the Middle East. Other Notes: The Wolseley Pith helmet was originally issued to British troops serving in Africa and the Middle East from 1899 to 1942 The Wolseley helmet has been used in the battle of Omdurman to Palestine 1942 but it's more associated with the Gallipoli campaign and the inter war years in India
