A British Coast Guard/ Customs Sword This is an interesting sword with the earlier pipe backed style of blade which was abandoned in favour of the Wilkinson pattern in 1846. The width and weight of the blade indicates it was made for fighting purpose. The lack of decoration suggests that this may have been carried by a Bosun or Warrant Officer with the Customs or Coastguard services for use against smugglers. This is a very rare sword and would be a great addition to any collection. Blade and grip in excellent condition. Scabbard missing top chappe.ight of the blade indicates it was made for fighting purpose. This is a very rare sword in excelent condition and would be an fantastic addition to any collection.
