Colonial Land plan for Palmers Grant the Riley Estate. (c.1830-1840). Drafted by hand in sepia & black ink, showing Brickfields (govt. Brick & pottery works), Smith's farm (now Albert Park & central station area), south head Road (now Oxford street), Sydney Common (now Moore Park), 'The alleged old Botany road' (unknown route). Coloured areas are described lower centre under 'Remarks.' Palmers Grant called George farm, Foveaux's Grant called the Surry Hill farm. Major Joseph Foveaux became Lieutenant Governor & Colonial Administrator for a period between Bligh & Macquarie 1808-9. Military officers were granted 100 acres in the colonial settlement.
