A Victorian Mappin & Webb silver plated Indian elephant head novelty inkwell, later 19th century, marked EPBM Sheffield & London, numbered 5198, the realistically cast head of an ornately caparisoned elephant surmounted by a monkey finial, hinged and opening to a ceramic inkwell, the base of waisted and stepped circular form; marked underside. Height 14 cm. Width 18 cm.
