A Victorian Scottish dirk with the crest of the 71st Highland Light Infantry, the single edged blade with jimped spine, etched with regimental crest, motto and list of actions including Waterloo and Sebastopol, and with maker's name: Johnston & Son, London. The hilt with cairngorm pommel, studded basket-weave carving and trophy group of bear skin and crossed swords, verso a thistle. The scabbard with gilt metal mounts decorated with crest and thistles, mounted with small knife and fork. Length 43 cm
