John Charles Allcot (Britain/Australia 1888-1973), 'R.M.S. Maheno', oil on board, entitled and dated 1914. Note the S.S. Maheno was built in 1905, she had triple screws with steam turbine engines making an amazing 19.8 knots, she proved over the years as one of the most remarkable of the USSCo. ships holding the Sydney to Wellington speed record of two days and 21 hours, her record holding for a good 25 years. She served as a hospital ship during World War I evacuating 7000 wounded men from Gallipoli. 30 cm x 45.5 cm
