An early 20th century boxed display of extinct and other N.Z. stag beetles and Australian ants, the stark stained pine box hinged opening to reveal 18 various stag beetles, some named 'Inangahua Junction', 'Parua Bay, Whangarei', etc., the 50-plus ants also raised on card display with pin fastening, some named. Note: the stag beetles collected c.1890 well prior to the Wildlife Act of 1953
