Considered to be the most prominent of Rodin's pupils, Émile-Antoine Bourdelle first studied under the sculptor Maurette in Toulouse before going to Paris in 1884 after winning a scholarship to the École des Beaux-arts. There, he frequently visited and worked in the Studio of his neighbor Jules Dalou, briefly studied under Alexandre Falguiere, and in 1893 began his 15 year period as a pupil and assistant in the Studio of Auguste Rodin, who had become a great admirer of Bourdelle's work. 24 x 27 x 16 cm
