A Nepalese bronze/brass Jain shrine, the seated Tirthankara in the centre under a canopy and accompanied by worshippers, with hands folded in dhyana mudra. Inscription to the back, with traces of puja, 17 cm high. Provenance: Private Collection Sydney. Notes: Jainism is one of the oldest religions in the world and originated in India in the 5th or 6th century BC. It developed from Brahmanism, just like Hinduism and Buddhism.
