A rare heavy c.1840 American Bayley & Kitchen coin silver coffee pot, the plain baluster pot with acanthus leaf detail to the handle and spout, the domed lid with applied floral and leaf finial, the base with four restrained scrolling feet, ivory heat rings to the handle. Stamped 'Bailey & Kitchen' mark, and also the Eagle-Thistle-Harp maker's mark of Taylor & Lowrie. Provenance: Purchased by our vendor's father from Ralph MacCormick 'Antiques & Fine Silver' dealer, Grosvenor Square, London 17th April 1968 for £150. Height 25 cm, weight 1430gms.
