An impressive and rare 18th century Louis XVI ormolu, patinated bronze and rouge marble striking clock, 'Pendule A L'Etude et la Philosophie', sculpted by Joseph Mignonet, Paris, after the model by Francois Remond, c.1785, the pediment as an eagle with wing spread, the white enamel dial with black enamel Roman numerals raised on a marble plinth base with ornate ormolu mounts and twin bronze classical scholarly figures, the dial signed 'Mignolet à Paris', the movement striking on twin bells. 66 cm x 15 cm x 53 cm
