A fine French ormolu mounted, ebonised and Paris porcelain gueridon, circa 1835-1840 the circular ormolu mounted top fitted with a large porcelain plaque, the central circular reserve emulating a cameo, depicting Bacchus on a light blue ground, the outer border finely painted depicting fruits, having a plain frieze, supported on a central tapering column terminating in four down scrolling ormolu mounted feet, the porcelain plaque signed to verso Monginot fecit 1833 Boulevard des Italiens No 20, 72 cm high, 60 cm in diameter, Show Catalogue Notes, Catalogue Notes, Francis Antoine Monginot was considered one of the best painters of flowers on porcelain in the early 19th Century, Monginot worked at Sevres under the direction of Brongniart. In 1825, he established himself as porcelain dealer and decorator at 20 Boulevard of the Italians however went bankrupt in 1837
