An embellished lacquer two-fold screen, Meiji period the black lacquer ground inlaid in ivory, bone and mother-of-pearl, one panel depicting a cockerel beneath a blossoming prunus tree among scattered feathers, the other decorated with a cockerel and hen with chicks below flowering prunus boughs and with scattered feathers, all within an elaborately carved wood frame and surmounted by arched crestings carved and pierced with dragons amongst clouds, an oval plaque signed Kurihara picked out in red to one side, the reverse with birds in flight and scattered petals, each panel 194 cm high and 87 cm wide
