A Tibetan gilded Utpala (pure flower) adornment, the finely carved flower, originally from a shoulder insert from a deity, such as Tara, or Tzongkhapa. The numerous petals inlaid with rubies, on a tall, gilded stem, with stand. Catalogue note: the shoulder inserts for the deities were often made separately on the large images, to avoid possible weak points in the construction. Provenance: Private Collection, Melbourne
