A Persian Astrolabe, possibly 17th century, large bronze astrolabe with an elaborate openwork rete decorated with scrolled foliage and calligraphic script, complete with four plates, surmounted by foliate engraved throne with suspension loop, 28 cm diameter. Provenance: acquired by the owner's maternal great grandfather, and hence by descent inherited by the current owner
