A Sancai-glazed pottery figure of a horse and male rider, Tang Dynasty, 618-907 the amber-glazed horse standing foursquare with head turned to the side and mouth open, the hogged mane, short tail and blaze covered in a cream glaze, the rider sitting upright on a tri-coloured saddlecloth, wearing a green tunic and amber leggings, the face finely delineated with eyes rendered in black, unglazed hands holding cymbals.
