An Elkington & Co. silver plated electrotype casket, Birmingham c.1854 copy of the original made by French silversmith Alexandre Gueyton for the great Exhibition in London, 1851. The process of electroyping was a Victorian phenomenon and product of nineteenth century industrialisation. Electrotypes were used as a tool for students of design to study fine examples of craftsmanship. London's Victoria & Albert Museum owns an electrotype copy of the original casket. 19 x 15 x 9 cm
