An 18th/ 19th century Indian miniature painting depicting the worship of the Jain leader Tirthankara Parshvanath, in inks, watercolours and gilding; against a pea green background a royal donor couple stand either side of Parshva - the 23rd Jain Tirthankara enthroned, hooded by seven naga serpents, in meditation beneath a canopy with three golden finials. 24.5 cm x 175. Provenance: Ex. the estate of a New Zealand artist, collected by him c1950 to 1970 while living in India and working at the ‘Lintas’ advertising agency, Bombay.
