A rare historical archive collection of Boer war Letters; photographs and correspondence a bag used by a Boers wife, Mrs Hendrik van Niekerk before and during her internment at Merebank, Natal Concentration camp, containing a rare historical collection of correspondence & photographs including: i) A letter written by Boer General Lucas Meyer, (one of the 5 delegates sent to Pretoria to interview Lord Roberts regarding to peace terms) to Mrs H. Van Niekerk his sister inlaw ii) A letter composed for President F.W. Reitz and initialed by him for the occasion in Memory of General C.J. Spruyt killed in action 20 July 1901. Iii) A condolence letter and 4 postal cancelled and censored Envelopes under Martial law: relating to the death of Mrs H. Van Niekerks younger sister who died in Merebank camp iv) A newspaper cutting of 86 Captive Federals, dated 25th Feb 1902 and a letter to the staff officer in charge of POW's, inquiring of two mentioned prisoners where abouts, to which he has replied on the reverse of the letter v) A Burgher Merebank relief Ticket for a blanket vi) A family letter posted from London, dated 19/03/1902. Vii) A birthday Scripture text book with names and birth dates of POW viii) A collection of 5 photographs inc: General Lucas Meyer & a group photo showing Captain Paton & J. Davis Intelligence Agent dated Balmoral 30/5/1902. Ix) A cape Colony travel pass to proceed from Utenhage to port Elizabeth dated 8/02/1902 to 8/03/1902. X) A post war Envelope Adressed to Mr & Mrs van Niekerks farm Nooitgedacht dated Nov 1904 xi) A general store's invoice dated 23/08/1900 before Mrs H. Van Hiekerks interment with a characteristic sketch of General Buller xii) A Boer republic (Zuid Afrika Republiek) receipt made out in favour of the van Niekerk's famliy 22 March 1895
