A fine Vizagapatam games box, early 19th century of incised ivory and horn inlaid into sandalwood, the top of the box opening to form a chess board, opening to reveal an interior containing three inlaid sandalwood boxes with sliding lids for game accouterments, lifting out to reveal the interior games board for backgammon, with finely carved and turned ivory and horn chess pieces, draughts pieces, dice and dice cups (65), the box 10 cm high, 46 cm wide, 23. 5 cm deep when closed the tallest chess piece being 10.5 cm high
