A lacquer suzuribako Meiji period, 19th century the cover decorated in gold and tones of brown on a nashiji ground with a figure playing a flute standing beside a gate beneath an overhanging tree, his horse grazing nearby, the interior fitted with a bronze shell form water dropper and rectangular inkstone 23.5 x 22 cm.
