A hardwood writing table Qing dynasty, 19th century of huanghuali and other woods, the rectangular floating panel top within a mitred frame with rounded corners extending down to form the chamfered square section legs with beaded edge terminating in hoof feet, the front with a pair of drawers with slightly raised panels set with bail handles flanked by two deep drawers set with bail handles on quatrelobed plates 82 cm high, 116 cm wide, 60 cm deep. Provenance: Part of a label on the underside reputedly inscribed 'Kingdon' - possibly the explorer and botanist Frank Kingdon-Ward (1885-1958)
