An Early Republic Period Eggshell Porcelain Bowl with broad gently tapering fluted walls and a foliate edge, the exterior decorated with a continuous frieze depicting the nine small five-toed dragons species cavorting amongst flowering foliage including chrysanthemums, peonies, daisies and convolvulus in bright enamels, bright yellow ground and enclosed by fine lappet borders, the interior walls with eight floral studies in enamels on a pearly white ground surrounding an enamelled rondel featuring a fierce green dragon guarding a flaming gem amongst clouds on a yellow ground, encircled by waves.
