An opposite pair of signed Satsuma vases, Meiji period, 1868-1912, the baluster vases with tapering shoulders and a waisted neck, well decorated in a predominantly gold and muted palette with male deities to one reserve and female figures to the other in landscape settings and within brocaded borders, the collar with shimazu crests; signed with nine characters to bordered cartouches underside.
