A White's Aviation photograph, 'NC18606. Pan American Airways System (Flying Boat) - in the full livery at Waitemata Harbour, Auckland, December 7, 1940', vintage hand coloured black and white photograph, 48 cm x 700. Original limed oak frame. A companion image is held in the Alexander Turnbull Library collection. This early photo was taken by Leo before he started White's Aviation. In 1940 he was an Army Territorial as well as running a photographic business Stewart & White Ltd. War shortages in photographic material had seen the business close and Leo joined the RNZAF in 1942 as an official photographer. He started White's Aviation in 1945.
