A rare West Australian Possum skin rug or quilt c.1910-1913 Tambellup, south West, W.A. Plus two spare smaller skins, all in excellent condition. 180 x 145 cm Provenance: The possums were caught by school-boy, William (bill) Rourke, aged 12-15, who was living with his uncle in the bush some miles from Tambellup young bill caught and skinned the possums and undertook a rough type of 'Bushman's tanning' to preserve the skins bill's uncle then took them to someone who tanned and stitched them more professionally bill records in his autobiography, 'My Way', his years living in the bush and catching possums
