A fine late 19th century Austrian silver gilt and enamel Nef, by Karl Bank Vienna, circa 1900, the egg and ship form Nef supported by a conch shell blowing merman on domed support painted with classical allegorical figures, the underside finely painted with harbour and ship, the nef opening to reveal an enamelled painted classical scene within an architectural garden, the ship cover embellished with enamelled deck hands climbing the ropes, 23 cm high
