The 'Fair Dinkum' gold nugget weighing an impressive 2720 grams or 87+ ounces in the old scale. Discovered in Victoria near the town of Wedderburn earlier this year with a metal detector this is one of the most significant nugget finds since the Hand of Faith in 1980. Christened The Fair Dinkum nugget by the lucky but seasoned prospector this find has a twist. Having recently quit smoking (and probably not in the best of moods) the prospector was kindly asked by his wife & children to perhaps spend a little time out of the house. The result, a gold prospecting trip with close friends which has certainly paid dividends, and his family now no longer have to put up with his smoking. Spectrum analysis has shown this to be an extremely pure nugget hence its fine colour & form. A true museum quality piece.
