An Indian silver wine jug of historical Royal family interest, 19th century with all-over floral chased decoration & intertwined snake handle. Base with inset handwritten paper card 'From The Prince Of Wales' & engraved 'Given by H. R. H the Prince of Wales, To The Rev'D Arthur Robins Christmas 1883'. Rev. Arthur Robins (1834-1899) Rector or Holy Trinity Church Windsor 1882-1899, was known as 'The Soldier's Bishop' after being appointed by Queen Victoria to Her Majesty's household troops at Windsor. Robins anonymously published 2 novels 'Miriam May' [1860] & 'Crispin Ken' [1861], both of which preached about the morals of fallen women, unwed mothers & the sanctity of marriage.
