A Carlton Ware 'Babylon' vase, 1937-1939, pattern 4126, shape number 1388, the high shouldered baluster vase with underglaze shadowy leaves, flowers and tracery style foliage trailing from the rim in enamel colours and gilt, and upon a mottled rouge lustre ground, the interior in a striking pearlised raspberry glaze; backstamp and pattern numbers underside.
