A rare and important 18ct gold, fancy vivid pink diamond and diamond ring, the marquise-shaped natural fancy vivid pink diamond weighing 1.03 carats is claw-set within a surround accented by brilliant-cut near colourless diamonds, the small near colourless diamonds together weighing approximately 0.43 carats, size P. Accompanied by a GIA report numbered 2161939615, dated 13 January 2015, stating that the 1.03 carat diamond is Natural Fancy Vivid Pink colour, I1 clarity, laser inscribed, together with a GSL report numbered AA54873,dated 17 April 2015 stating that the 1.03 carat diamond is of East Kimberley, Western Australian origin., the colour pink is rare in diamonds., of the many shades of colour encountered in diamonds, pink is perhaps the most captivating and enchanting. This 1.03 carat pink stone is certified by the GIA as Fancy Vivid; a colour grouping of light to medium tone and very high saturation. It is this high level of saturation which places such diamonds at the very top level of fancy colour classification, and gives this splendid diamond its remarkable colour., the scarcity of fancy vivid pink diamonds have driven them to the forefront of the world's most coveted coloured diamonds and their occasional appearance at auction represents an exceptional opportunity for both collectors and connoisseurs who have long been enthralled by the beauty of this miracle of nature. Provenance: Mr William Leslie, Melbourne. The diamond is stated to have been purchased in the rough in 1981 by Mr William Leslie one of the founding Directors of Ashton Mining Ltd and member of the Joint Venture Development Committee, Ashton Joint Venture. This stone represented the first one carat plus pink diamond valuation samples retrieved by the consortium in the exploration phase whilst undertaking a feasibility study of the commercial viability mine.
