An Australian Colonial silver-mounted emu-egg chalice, with scalloped silver rim, silver-gilt lined bowl interior, fruiting vine flange, cluster column, incurved octafoil foot with engraved repousse embossed leaf band; retailed by Brush & McDonnell, Melbourne c.1861 (mark 91, J. B. Hawkins '19th century Australian Silver, Acc, 1990); in carved timber receptacle, possibly a newel post altered. Label affixed to the cup inscribed 'Emu given by J.Duff Gordon 21.8.72'.
