A Chinese carved ivory medicine 'doctors doll' and amethyst beads necklace, late 19th / early 20th century the necklace is comprised of round amethyst beads, two ivory beads and eight gold bead spacers with centred recumbent nude figure. Length 8 cm (figure). Note: traditional Chinese doctor's doll used as a diagnostic tool. It was the custom in china, for ladies to describe their ills to the doctor, by pointing to an area on the doctor doll
