A collection of World War II military medals and ephemera, associated with 116186 Capt. William Hector McDonald (1912 -1975) MBE (Mily.) [whilst POW] RAMC and 1428 Capt. Patricia Moran Williams NZANS (his wife). McDonald – N.Z. born, educated at AGS and at London University. From 1940 - 46 he served with the RAMC, he was for three and a half years a prisoner-of-war in Siamese railway camps (captured in the Battle of Singapore 1942). Post war - MO in the Solomons; 1952 Senior MO; 1955 to Fiji DIr Leprosy Hosp., 1957 - 61 Dep. Dir. of Med. Services. 1961- 64 dep. MO of Health for Auckland. Includes: swing mounted miniature group, MBE case (medal absent), dog tags, cap badges, epaulettes, various buttons, two berets, photographs, typescript, etc. P.M Williams - served 1st Echelon 2/10 British Hospital, New Zealand General Hospital, Middle East/Asia, Greece and Norfolk Island; collection includes World War II swing mounted service medals (5), miniatures (5), a ribbon bar (4); along with other school, cadet, association badges and buttons, NZANS badge, dog tags, RSA pin, Greek commemorative war medal, scarlet epaulettes with pips, 6 loose pips and a large round engraved Norfolk Is and modified as a bottle opener
